Dalkey Lobster Festival 2022

26th – 28th of AUGUST

It’s Back! Dalkey revives the Lobster Festival!

Pincers at the ready! After a three-year hiatus, the Dalkey Lobster Festival returns to the historic, south Dublin coastal town from 26th – 28th August 2022.

Festival Brochure downloads in PDF.

Supported by Moretti, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, the festival will combine culinary demos and exquisite dining with live music, street entertainment, and artisan exhibits.

Over the course of the festival weekend, a host of familiar faces will appear on the Main Stage within the Lobster Village, which, this year, is located in The Tramyard, to demo their favourite seafood recipes, share their expertise, and have some fun. Prominent chefs, Derry Clarke (pictured above at the launch of the festival, with Peter Roberts from Roberts of Dalkey. JP McMahon, Mark Moriarty, and Arun Kapil will be joined by Newstalk’s Dr. Ciara Kelly, broadcaster and journalist Lorraine Keane, former international rugby legends Shane Byrne and Fergus McFadden, and FM104 presenter of The Juice, Sean Munsanje – just some of the faces who have agreed to participate.

Assisted by a group of eminent local chefs including Jérôme Fernandes, The Guinea Pig, Ronald Curman, Bubbas, Marian Minut, and Benito’s, it is expected that over 6,000kg of lobster will be served over the festival weekend.

Breast Cancer Ireland is the charity partner this year (CEO Aisling Hurley is pictured above with Shane Byrne) and many of its ambassadors and friends are getting ready to play their part in galvanising the local community to help raise much needed funds.

“We are thrilled to be in a position to bring back our beloved Lobster Festival this summer,” comments veteran restauranteur, Padraic Hanley, of Bubba’s Fish Market, located on Dalkey Square, one of the new “watercooler” meeting points that emerged during Covid when so many worked from home and popped into the town for their morning coffee.

“It really is a labour of love for so many of us but when we see generations of families coming back together, year after year, it makes it all worthwhile,” adds Hanley. “The Festival is all about community and having fun and it really is a fantastic opportunity to remind people of all that is available in Dalkey.”

The Dalkey Lobster Festival is the perfect fusion of the best local food, top musical acts, and great entertainment and is one of the major highlights of the seafood calendar.
